A mutual visa-free agreement between the Russian Federation and the Sultanate of Oman comes into force on July 18, 2025, in a statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry on its website.
The governments of the two countries had signed the agreement in Moscow on April 22, 2025, as part of negotiations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Sultan of Oman, Haitham bin Tarek Al Said.
According to the agreement, Russian citizens will be able to enter and stay in Oman without a visa for up to 30 days during each visit, given that the purpose of their entry is not permanent residence, study, or work-related activities. Additionally, the total period of stay should not exceed 90 days during a calendar year.
The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that similar conditions will apply to nationals of Oman visiting the Russian Federation.
Individuals planning to stay for more than 30 days on a single visit or intending to study, work, or gain permanent residence in Russia will need to apply for and obtain a relevant visa in advance.
The implementation of the visa-free agreement points to the strengthening of diplomatic and economic ties between Russia and Oman. With the mutual visa waivers to come into effect soon, both countries are anticipating greater mobility and increased visitor arrivals for tourism and business.
This latest visa waiver is part of Russia’s broader move to become increasingly accessible to the world. In 2024, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development announced plans for Russia to establish visa-free travel with several countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East by 2025.
